Enforcement Overview

The enforcement section is responsible for ensuring the fair treatment of our environment by enforcing the rules and regulations that protect it.  The section of Coastal Resource Management Office is made up of five individuals - one chief enforcement and four enforcement officers. These officers monitor permitted areas and enforce permit rules and regulations. There are five APC’s or areas of particular concern that are frequently monitored by the enforcement officers. These areas are:

  • Shorelines (Sm)
  • Port & Industrial (PI)
  • Lagoon & Reef (LR)
  • Wetlands (W)
  • Coastal Hazards (CH)

Enforcement officers also visit projects with Major Siting permits, Minor SIting permits, and any federal consistency projects that are underway.

If individuals or groups to be in violation of the permit rules and regulations, proper enforcement procedure is followed as seen in the flowchart. Numerous violations on an area of particular concern can lead to a warning notice, fine, or even the termination of a permit in its entirety.
