Enforcement Overview

The enforcement section is responsible for ensuring the fair treatment of our environment by enforcing the rules and regulations that protect it.
The enforcement section of Coastal Resource Management Office is made up of five individuals, one chief enforcement and four enforcement officers. These officers monitor permitted areas and enforce permit rules and regulations. There are five APC’s or areas of particular concern that are frequently monitored by the enforcement officers. These areas are:

  • Shorelines (Sm)
  • Port & Industrial (PI)
  • Lagoon & Reef (LR)
  • Wetlands (W)
  • Federal Consistency (FC)
  • Major Sittings (MS)
If the above areas are found to be in violation of the permit rules and regulations then proper enforcement procedure is followed as seen in the flowchart. Numerous violations on an area of particular concern can lead to the warning notice, fine, or even the termination of the permit in its entirety.
